The past couple weeks have been a blur of deadlines, snow and more snow, homework, getting back into a routine and just kind of chugging along. And it's good. But it's not summer. And guys, I miss summertime. I miss flip flops and sitting on my front porch and swimming pools and being outside all.day.long. I miss sunshine and longer days.
You know we've enjoyed the outdoors this winter playing hockey and building forts and conquering mountains of snow and ice.
Lucy is offically king of the hill here. Love it. |
We've even enjoyed being stuck indoors when it's been too cold to go outside.
I'm just kind of ready to move on, outside with sun and warmth and green grass and flip flops. What I know for sure is that spring is going to be one hell of a party around here.
Here's what else I know for sure (this week):
- I love this quote and kind of feel it a lot.
- Even though I am sort of terrified of something horrible happening in Sochi, I'll be watching. And in honor of the Olympics, I informed my kids that I will be speaking with a Russian accent for the next 14 days. They seemed annoyed, which makes my accent thicker. So much fun. You should try it.
- Mamalode isn't just a web site, it's a beautiful, artistic print magazine and I love it. I got to gush about mamalode in a review I wrote of the print magazine. Want to know why I love it so much? Check it out- click here to read the review.
- This is awesome. I am a HUGE Kelly Corrigan fan and am going to buy her new book, Glitter and Glue, this weekend. Just watch her read this excerpt from it and I bet you might go buy it too.
- My amazing friend Greta (from gfunkified.com, the co-host of the #iPPP) nominated my blog post about my reaction to people's reaction to Philip Seymour Hoffman's death for a blogging honor. She nominated the post called Remember, Compassion for BlogHer Voices of The Year. I was so moved because, I mean what a great friend. If you want to go throw a vote my way, that would be amazing. - Guess who's moving to my neighborhood this summer? Um, Ben and Jen Affleck (it's legit, Ben is filming the new Batman movie here in good ol' Detroit). Woot-woot! I have visions of me running into Jen and her kids at a farmers' market somewhere and talking to her about organic vegetables and swapping cute kids stories. (Okay they are moving to Metro Detroit, which is a pretty big area, but my vision could happen, it could.)

I'm linking up today with my friends Greta from Gfunkified.com and Robin from FarewellStranger.com for the #iPPP link up. They host a link up where they encourage people to share "your funny, your yummy, your heartfelt, your favorite photos of the week" from our phones.
ooh. I hear you about the snow! I'm feeling the same way here with my kids. loved that quote too, and your piece that Greta nominated!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading and commenting!!! Only 40 more days until spring. :)
DeleteHoly moley....Jen and Ben?! That's awesome. And I'm totally picturing you running into her and speaking in a Russian accent (okay, I know the timeframes aren't right, but it's my imagination). And then I saw my name! I hope as many people as possible read that post. Like, the whole world.
ReplyDeleteAnd the snow....I don't think I could live there....I get cranky when we get one big snow every, like, two weeks or so. But this year, it seems like Michigan is the snowiest state in America. ACK.
Ooooh, maybe I will bust out my Russian accent w/my new BFF Jen! I love it.
DeleteGreta, thanks again for nominating my piece and always just being such a wonderful sweet friend.
And booo Michigan. I want to live someplace w/palm trees.
Jen would be lucky to get to chat with you at the Farmer's Market.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine? Although, I am such a celebrity nerd I'd probably scare her. :)
DeleteI'm going to lick spring's face when it shows up.
ReplyDeleteSochi is already a hot mess. You rock that accent! haha Love it!
-Angie
Oh my gosh, your comments make me laugh out loud! Love it.
DeleteOMG what I wouldn't do to hear you speak with that accent all the time. I wish I was good at accents.
