This winter has been very...wintry. There have been days when I really wanted to hibernate. But you know what happens on those days? I end up inside with kids that are antsy and eye roll-y and getting on each other's nerves. So, instead of being beaten by this winter, we have gotten out and played.
Instead of hating it, we are loving it. We are ice skating on ponds and free ice rinks. We are making ramps and snowboard jumps in our front yard (and some of us were making ramps off the front porch, but that seemed unsafe so we stopped that).
Here's a short little highlight reel of some of our winter fun:

Lucy has big plans for she and JT to become the next sister and brother team to compete at an Olympics. |
We are actually going to be maybe the only family in Michigan that will miss the snow.
This was from this past Saturday's Parents vs. Kids hockey game. It was right after USA beat Russia in the Olympics. It was a good day because Parents beat the Kids too. Hell yeah! |

(There are a couple dropped frames & the video isn't perfect, but you get the idea of what our everyday has been like for the past two months.)
All the pictures above were taken with my phone. Come play with me on Instagram.
I am so excited to have gone from linker to co-hoster of the the #iPPP showcase. I started linking up with my good friend Greta from gfunkified.com every week to highlight pictures taken from my phone. It was a fun challenge because I am a big believer in taking pictures with my phone.
So, when she asked if anyone wanted to co-host, I said "sure, I'm down with iPPP." I'm sorry, I had to. I was going to try to avoid the whole reference to a pretty racy song from the early 90s. But come on, it's too good. And don't worry there's nothing dirty about iPPP--it stands for iphone photo phun.
Greta, Angela (my LTYM co-producer & iPPP co-hoster) and I want to see your funny, your yummy, your heartfelt, your favorite phone photos of the week. Of course, it doesn't have to be from an iPhone. All you need is a blog post containing at least one photo from any phone camera. Link up below and don't forget to visit some of the others!
I ADORE those pictures, all of them. And I so want to see Lucy in the Olympics one day. She would ROCK a beanie and goggles on tv.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Lucy totally would rock the snowboarder look at the Olympics. :)
DeleteI don't need to turn on the tube to watch the Winter Olympics, I can just come here! :> Great pics!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI love that you guys are embracing winter and everything it's thrown at you. Yay!
ReplyDeleteWe try to have fun in every season, even in this seemingly never-ending winter.
DeleteYou are wonderful :) I am embracing things like the library and Costco trips.
ReplyDeleteThat is a ton of snow. Not like the few centimeters of ice that brought Atlanta to its knees. Love that you get outside and enjoy it. My husband spent a lot of time in Minnesota as a child and they were the same way.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Angela - library and Costco, but we do get outside unless it's really cold. Glad you're having fun!
ReplyDeleteI really do love the snow but I think the bitter cold has made me not like the winter as much this year. It's been so hard to actually go out.
ReplyDeleteThat amount of snow completely baffles this Southerner. Seriously. And the fact that you all OWN ice skates! HA! Looks like fun though! I hope everyone got hot cocoa after. At least that is how we roll... Great to see you co-hosting #ippp!! :D
ReplyDeleteI always knew there were people, somewhere, who love the snow. I don't understand it, but I can appreciate the fun you're having!
ReplyDeleteYour video is great. :) Love that song.
